Who we are
Castle School is a specialist provision for children and young people with severe or profound and multiple learning difficulties. At Castle School, we aim to:- Be a happy, safe, caring environment for all our pupils and staff.
- Be a friendly and stimulating environment where learning is fun and interesting.
- Provide a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum appropriate to the needs of each child or young person, taught and assessed through individual learning programmes.
- Provide relevant opportunities and experiences out of the Academy to help our young people understand being part of a wider community.
- Develop the self esteem, self awareness and confidence of each of our pupils.
- Work in partnership with parents, carers and other professionals.

Brad and Callum have successfully completed their Works Experience at Akzo Nobel. They have had an incredible time, a huge thank you to all the staff at @AkzoNobel for making them feel so welcome and giving them a taste of 'working life'. @MrsJJill
A big thank you to Castle School parents who supported in painting areas of school last week, 2 sensory rooms were fully painted and touch ups in our classrooms. We are also thankful to @AkzoNobel who kindly provided us with paint and brushes.
Pupils from Castle School went to different areas of our site to litter pick as part of the 2024 #GreatBritishSpringClean. Thanks to Ashington Town Council for providing us with litter pickers, bin bags and hi-vis jackets.

A very exciting visit on Monday from @NlandFRS - what a fantastic way to end #NationalCareersWeek!
We had a lovely visit last week from Nicola, a marine biologist from @Rockpoolschool1. We listened to a sensory story, explored rockpool animals and took part in sea life arts and crafts. Our students were so engaged and absolutely loved it!

As part of #NationalCareersWeek, we enjoyed an interactive workshop with one of our nurses. Our students role played using the different nursing equipment and identified how a nurse looks after us.
