Please attempt at least 1 or 2 activities every day.

Some activities maybe repeated to ensure your child is confident with the task, this would happen in school as well.

Parents – can you write on your child’s work to say how they have done e.g. no help, spoken help, confident work. Have a think about what their next steps could be.

If you do not have the ingredients to make the recipe (don’t worry there may not be a recipe every week) – cook something different e.g. fairy cakes, rice crispy buns, or help to make the evening meal. If you do not have the materials to make the art/craft activity – draw a picture instead.

Daily challenge – Go for a walk and spot things that are white

Learning objectives: To recognise some letters/words by their sound. To demonstrate awareness of words by noting the initial letter sound. To realise that information can be found in books.

  • Confusing letters b & d worksheet.
  • Find as many objects/items in your home that begin with the letter d, then write some  3 word sentences using that word, try and use an adjective e.g. My desk is big

Learning objectives: To talk about what a doctor and a nurse do

  • Write 5 sentences using the following words – x-ray, medicine, doctor, ill, broken arm
  • Use some bandages to wrap around  your teddy bears. Pretend to be their doctor or nurse, what would you say to the patients? E.g. How do you feel today? Have you had your medicine? Can I take your temperature?
  • Talk about when a doctor or nurse might help us? When do we see doctors and nurses? Have we got any nurses in our school? Have you ever had an injection, or had your blood pressure taken or had to visit hospital? Have you ever had an x-ray? Ask a sibling to join in your role play – they can be the patient & you can be the doctor, then swap over.

Learning objectives: To describe what happens when materials are heated or cooled. To trial actions. To repeat actions when prompted, e.g. tries something a second time when prompted to try again. To confirm suggestions about what will happen.

  • Make a boiled egg to ‘eggperience’ (sorry couldn’t help it!) an irreversible change
  • Make pancakes to experience irreversible changes

Daily Challenge – Hoover the lounge

Learning objectives: To work in two or three dimensions and may intentionally represent or symbolise an object or an emotion. To choose tools and materials, which are appropriate to the activity. To purposefully choose colours or techniques. To encounter mosaic art.

  • Type mosaic art club into google images and have a look at some examples of mosaic art
  • Support your child by drawing a simple grid of lined squares with a circle for a head. Allow your child to choose from white paper, white paint stamps, white sticky labels or any other white material you have.
