Body Awareness / Ready to learn activity –  Brushing firmly on arms hands and legs and back.

This is a fab series on YouTube for learners who have limited movement.

Don’t be put off by her use of skittles. You can use virtually anything [a cereal packet] they can knock over.

This is good to do every day if you can as repetition builds familiarity and anticipation and then they learn more.

Relational interactive – Story massage and proprioceptive massage. This helps your child become aware of her/his body and where it is in space.

Tuesday

     

Body Awareness / Ready to learn activity – Fanning their face fast and slowly. You can use a fan but a piece of card would do, or the pages of a book.

Handy Pac is today’s physical activity. It is a part of the Tac Pac program but you don’t need any props or objects just your hands.

This Youtube video demonstrates how to do it very clearly while the music is playing. Your child can be in any position they feel comfortable. 

My Thinking – Attention Autism (Attention Bucket) You can do this every day. The repetition is good and then I will change it after a week or two.

Sensory circuit for those who are more mobile. They may need you to do this with them as there’s lots of language.

Relational interactive – Musical PowerPoint (Coming Soon) or if no internet access sing with your child their favourite songs. Pause in the middle of a line and see if they try to get you to continue. Pause before dramatic parts and wait for anticipation.

Tim Godwin  – Tim Godwin does some very simple musical videos that build anticipation and are great fun. Sellotape, shaving foam, water spray and windy fan and balloon are all great and short activities to fill in gaps in a day.
